Hello, Lilygrass fans!
With the lovely spring season now upon us, flowers aren’t the only things that are blooming! Festivals are also in full swing! We love when you come in to our shop and order beautiful happiness from us, but sometimes it’s nice to get out there and see these gorgeous things in nature.
Here is a quick list of some of the best festivals to enjoy springtime in Oklahoma.
First stop – Dogwood Days in Idabel! The entire town celebrates these marvelous trees of white and pink with barbecue, Easter egg hunts, a 5K, a fun run, and a dance contest. If that’s not enough to keep you busy, then stroll on through the RV and boat show or show off your own skills at the volleyball tournament. There’s really something for everyone at this town’s springtime kick-off! It takes place during the first weekend in April. For more information on this springtime extravaganza, visit the Idabel Chamber of Commerce’s website or call (580)286-3305.
If trees don’t get you excited (or if those allergies keep you from enjoying them too much), then stop on by the Muskogee Azalea Festival throughout the month of April. They boast about their Honor Heights Park 625 varieties of the Azalea, which translates to over 30,000 plants! Wow! The blooms are fantastic for the entire month, and no matter when you make it there, there will probably be something fun going on. If you’d like to see the official Azalea Parade, then you better get to Downtown Muskogee before 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9. After that, look forward to all of your favorite festival happenings and then some! What other city has a powwow happening the same day for a tribute to the Murrah Memorial and they have a BBQ cook-off, a run, and a car show. You should also expect to see some pretty sweet deals in the local shops around town. For more information and lodging preferences, head on over to visitmuskogee.com.
For a little later on in the spring, June 9th hosts a Garden Festival in OKC’s own Will Rogers Park. From 9:30-4:00, come out with the family and enjoy free seminars, kids’ activities, a grand tour of the gardens, and flower and herb shows. You can also stop by their cafe for some nourishment after you do all that walking! Plan on coming to see these breathtaking gardens and get out there in that fresh, spring air! Put on your calendar for spring 2017 because I couldn’t very well do a blog on flower festivals without mentioning the “you-pick-your-own” Texas Tulip patch! Open daily from 9:00AM to 8:00PM, you can come design your own tulip bouquet for $2.50 a stem! There is a $2.50 entrance fee for visitors, as well. Take a nice day trip down to Pilot Point, Texas in March! Need more information? Visit Texas-Tulips.com or call (940)230-6512.
There are many more festivals out there this spring season, so jump in the car and drive! If you can’t quite make it to any of those places, then just drive on in to Lilygrass flowers and decor, and we can give you your flower fix!
Have a lovely spring, Lilygrass fans! See you soon at the festivals!
