Festive floral ideas for the holidays

The holidays are just around the corner, which means cooler weather, holly jolly spirits, and lots of festive celebrations and events. Bring the outside in to celebrate the season with fresh or artificial flowers, or even a mix of the two.

Here are a few ideas for some festive floral frills for fall and winter holidays.

Rustic branches to set the tone
 

Rustic branches make a great addition to any arrangement and there are so many different ways to incorporate them. If the look is more farm or barn style, keep them rough and incorporate them randomly throughout an arrangement or even gathered together in a vase on their own. The rougher the bark the better if rusting is your goal! This will bring an organic, woodsy look to your celebration. If your event is more chic, clean the branches and paint them to match the surrounding event colors for a more polished, glamorous look.

Evergreens that look and smell wonderful

Evergreen cuttings are perfect for every ho ho ho-liday happening. Weave fresh cedar branches for an elegantly simple garland that smells like Christmas itself. Smaller cuttings of juniper or pine worked into floral arrangements or grouped together in cute little mason jars are a great choice for a cozy, intimate gathering. However you incorporate them, they’re sure to keep your party looking (and smelling) wonderful.

Pretty pinecones with staying power

Pinecones are a winter holiday essential, so be sure to stock up before your big event. They’re great for any gathering and can be worked into almost any décor or arrangement without much fuss. Fill an empty crystal bowl with fresh pinecones for a jolly juxtaposition of rustic and elegant. Mix them in with DIY potpourri mixes or floral arrangements to add a little extra fun. If you have the time and are feeling crafty, weave them into a wreath for some lovely front door decor.
